The Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Computer and Network Technology degree program is designed to provide a challenging program for students to demonstrate their full potential in respect to computer networking, software development and computer hardware in the context of modern digital communication systems. 

This degree is validated by a leading UK university and upon successful completion of the program graduates are awarded two degree certificates. The courses offered cover a wide range of topics including object-oriented programming, network programming and computational mathematics, computer data networks using languages and tools such as Java, C++, UNIX, Network Simulators, Network sensor smart home environment.


Why study Computer and Network Technology?
The program offers state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories equipped with the latest industry standard technology including, networking labs that emulate the Internet using Cisco equipment, network sensor development environments that allow us to study ‘the Internet of Things’, as well as a dedicated, networked smart home environment.
Students will have experience how to cable and configure routers and switches, as well as other systems such as phones, video cameras and wireless devices. Understand how the network is used in the modern IT industry by studying the way global systems – like Google, Amazon and Facebook – operate. Practical networking experience with sound knowledge of the software running on the servers, giving you the invaluable insight employers are looking for.

  • This program prepares you in deeper knowledge in foundation of Computer Science to pursue a Master’s degree in the areas of Intelligent Systems, Image Processing and Computer Vision by research mode.

STPM :
2 Principal Passes with min. Grade C in any 2 subjects and Credit at SPM level or equivalent in:
  1. Additional Mathematics or;
  2. Mathematics and any 1 subject in Science, Technology or Engineering
OR
2 Principal Passes (Science Stream) with min. Grade C in 1 Mathematics subject and one subject in Science/ICT.


GCE A Level :
Single Award
2 Principal Passes (EE) in any 2 subjects and Credit at SPM level or equivalent in:
  1. Additional Mathematics; or
  2. Mathematics and any one subject in Science, Technology or Engineering

Dual Award
2 Principal Passes (CC) and Credit in any 2 subjects and Credit in:
  1. Additional Mathematics; or
  2. Mathematics and any one subjects in Science, Technology or Engineering at SPM level or equivalent

Applicant without 2 Principal Passes (CC) may be considered on a case by case basis by the Dual Award University partner.


UEC :
5 Credits (Min B6) including Mathematics and Science/ICT subject


Foundation/Matriculation :
Single Award
Pass with CGPA ≥ 2.00 and Credit at SPM level or equivalent in:
  1. Additional Mathematics; or
  2. Mathematics and any one subjects in Science, Technology or Engineering

Dual Award
Pass with CGPA ≥ 3.00 and Credit at SPM level or equivalent in:
  1. Additional Mathematics; or
  2. Mathematics and any one subjects in Science, Technology or Engineering
 

Australian Matriculation/ Foundation :
Single Award
ATAR score of 55

Dual Award
ATAR score of 70


Diploma :
Diploma in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology/Information System or equivalent with min. CGPA 2.50; or Any Diploma in science and technology with min. CGPA 2.50

Candidate with CGPA under 2.50 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to rigorous internal assessment process by institution.


Notes
  • Candidates entering the degree programme via Matriculation/Foundation/STPM with credit in Mathematics and any one subject in Science, Technology or Engineering at SPM level or equivalent are required to take Mathematics enhancement course with topics related to Computer Science and Software Engineering fields.
  • Candidates must pass the Mathematics enhancement course as prerequisite before are allowed to take related core subject. However, this requirement does not limit candidate from taking any other core or non-core subjects that do not have the Mathematics enhancement course as the prerequisite.
  • The credit for the Mathematics enhancement course is an extra credit to core subjects and can be considered as part of the graduating credit.
  • The requirement for the Mathematics enhancement course can be exempted ifthe Matriculation or Foundation programme or equivalent contains Mathematics subject that is at the same level/higher than the credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level.


English Requirement
Local Student:
Single Award
Pass English at SPM level; or MUET Band 2; or Band 5 in IELTS; or a min score of 57 (IBT) or 180 (CBT) in TOEFL

Dual Award
Credit in English (min. C) at SPM level; or MUET Band 4; or Band 6 in IELTS (with no component below 5.5); or a min score of 79 (IBT) or 220 (CBT) in TOEFL


International Student:
Single Award
MUET Band 3; or Band 5 in IELTS; or a min score of 34 (IBT) or 410 (PBT) in TOEFL

Dual Award
MUET Band 4; or Band 6 in IELTS (with no component below 5.5); or a min score of 79 (IBT) or 220 (CBT) in TOEFL


If applicants score between the minimum English language standard and the required dual award standard then other listed English qualifications will be considered if they decide to pursue the dual award programme:
