Biomedical Science, an exciting and dynamic area that is highly relevant to the understanding and treatment of human diseases, combines the fields of biology and medicine. It focuses on the structure and function of the human body from the level of organs and tissues to the molecular level. The biomedical scientists always find new ways to cure or treat disease by developing advanced diagnostic tools or new therapeutic strategies. 

UTAR's Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biomedical Science offered by the Faculty of Science is an interdisciplinary programme with a combination of biology and pre-clinical sciences. The programme aims to equip graduates with a strong basic knowledge in the field of health sciences. 

It also develops professionalism and provides opportunities to the students to put theory into practice in their development of healthcare. The programme generates graduates to work in the area of medicine and health related industries including management, basic medical research, education, forensics, and pharmaceuticals development.

  • STPM Principal Passes in Biology and Chemistry ( both with GPA of 2.50 and above )
  • A-Level with Grade C in Biology and Chemistry
  • South Australian Matriculation ( SAM ) with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank ( ATAR ) 70 and Grade B in Biology and Chemistry
  • Canadian Pre-University ( CPU ) with an average of 70% in 6 subjects including Biology and Chemistry
  • Unified Examination Certificate ( UEC ) with Grade B in 5 subjects including grade B4 in Biology and Chemistry
  • Foundation in Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman ( UTAR ) including Biology and Chemistry ( both with GPA of 2.50 and above )
  • Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field including Biology and Chemistry ( both with GPA of 2.50 and above )
  • Matriculation Certificate, Minstry of Education including Biology and Chemistry ( both with GPA of 2.50 and above )
  • Diploma from other Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with CGPA 2.75 and above
  • Diploma from other Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with CGPA 2.75 and below and with minimum of 3 years of working experience in the relevant field
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemsitry

AND
  • SPM or equivalent with 5 credits of which 3 credits must be in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language
  • MUET Band 3/IELTS Band 5.5/TOEFL score of 550 ( not applicable for qualifications conducted fully in English Language )
